just being audrey




Que amoreco de ilustrações, que delícia ver um livro sobre a biografia de Audrey Hepburn feito para crianças de 4 a 8 anos. Julia Denos ilustrou o texto de Margaret Cardillo. Just Being Audrey conta como ela foi uma das primeiras atrizes a usar a fama para o bem de necessitados como embaixadora da UNICEF. 
Sam Levenson escreveu um poema sobre dicas de beleza de Audrey que todas as mães deveriam ler para seus filhos de tempos em tempos*:

For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run his or her fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.
People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed and redeemed; never throw out anyone.
Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you'll find one at the end of each of your arms. As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself, the other for helping others.
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides.

What lovely images this book about Audrey Hepburn's biography has. I was so happy to find out that Julia Denos illustrated the text that Margaret Cardillo wrote about the life of this amazing icon, for children 4-8 years. Just Being Audrey tells the children her life and how she became one of the first actresses to use her celebrity to help the ones in need as UNICEF's ambassadress.
Sam Levenson wrote a poem bout Audrey's beauty tips that every mother should read to her children every now and then*:
